The Jigawa State Government, in collaboration with NewGlobe, has launched a comprehensive education reform initiative aimed at transforming public primary education across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the Acting Managing Director of JigawaUNITE, Olusanya Omojola, said the initiative is designed to overhaul the education system by raising teaching standards, improving learning outcomes, and modernizing classroom instruction for thousands of pupils.
He explained that, the program, implemented through the Ministry of Basic Education and the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), will equip teachers with extensive training and digital tools to enhance their teaching skills.
According to him “Over 1,449 teachers and 250 head teachers will undergo an intensive induction program to be conducted across the state,” the statement revealed.
The initiative is modeled after successful education reforms in countries such as Rwanda, Kenya, and Liberia.
It incorporates teacher coaching, real-time classroom data, and evidence-based teaching methods to drive measurable improvements in foundational literacy and numeracy.
According to the statement, the state government is committed ensure that every child has access to quality education, supported by well-trained teachers and modern tools.
It noted that the program is expected to bring about significant improvements in the state’s education sector when implemented as designed.
