The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed delight over the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, former Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), as the new Commissioner of Information by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani.
In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Abdulgafar Alabelewe, and Secretary, Comrade Gambo Santos Sanga, the NUJ described the appointment as a welcome development and a step in the right direction, given Maiyaki’s track record of professionalism, humility, and teamwork spanning over two decades in the journalism profession.
The statement conveyed the Union’s confidence in Maiyaki’s ability to bring his wealth of experience to bear in positively projecting Governor Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN agenda.
It noted that with the appointment, the state government has indeed placed a round peg in a round hole, capable of uniting journalists in the state toward the promotion of peace and good governance.
The Council further described the new Commissioner—who previously served as Director-General, Media and Publicity to former Governor Ramalan Yero, and more recently as MD of KSMC—as a dedicated, hardworking, and goal-oriented journalist who will, without doubt, work proactively in branding and promoting the activities of the present administration in a positive light.
