Residents of CBN quarters Hadejia Road Kano were thrown into deep shock following the drowning of a A 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, who fell into an abandoned well.
The public relations officer Kano state fire service Saminu Yusif Abdullahi confirmed the tragedy to newsmen.
According to him, the victim was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defense.
He explained that, after dropping off guests at a nearby house, he stepped out of the vehicle to urinate, unaware of the abandoned well and debris in the area.
Saminu pointed out that, the cover of the well gave way, leading to his fall and ultimately resulting in his tragic death.
The public relations officer maintained, the State Fire Service, led by Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, quickly responded to the emergency call and arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.
“Unfortunately, the victim was rescued while unconscious and was later pronounced dead at Sir Sunusi Hospital”
“The body was handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation”
