The Kano State Government has declared Thursday, June 26, 2025, as a work-free day to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and made available to newsmen in Kano, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf congratulated Muslim faithful for witnessing the start of the new Hijri year.

The governor urged citizens and the wider Muslim Ummah to reflect on their actions over the past year and use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Kano State and across Nigeria.
