The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced significant achievements in its ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety across the state.
The achievements were unveiled by the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, during a press briefing held at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.

Addressing journalists, CP Azare commended members of the press for their professionalism and partnership in promoting accurate and ethical reporting.
He noted that the Command’s sustained operations from May 2025 to date have been driven by intelligence-led policing, rapid tactical responses, and enhanced collaboration with communities.
During the briefing, CP Azare outlined several notable operations and arrests, including:

On 1st May 2025, operatives arrested two suspected robbers — Ekong Isiah Akpan (22) and Joseph Ekong Edem (19) — in Uyo and Itu LGAs. Recovered items included a locally made pistol, battle axe, hammer, scissors, and suspected hard drugs.
On 8th May 2025, six suspected kidnappers were apprehended across Oron and Nsit Eket, with the recovery of a Lexus RX 300 SUV and five mobile phones.
Multiple arrests of suspected cultists from groups such as Supreme Vikings Confraternity, Kuklux Klan, and Black Axe were recorded, along with recoveries of firearms, charms, and other dangerous weapons.
On 10th May 2025, Marine Police operatives foiled a pirate attack, recovered speedboats, firearms, and other equipment after a gun duel with fleeing suspects.
Several vandals were arrested while attempting to sabotage oil and power infrastructure, with recovery of transformer coils, aluminum cables, and specialized tools.
Three kidnap victims were successfully rescued during operations in Atan Offot, Uyo, where an armed robbery attempt was also thwarted.
