In collaboration with KanoTec Solutions, a UK-based technology company, and York St John University, CDA will spearhead research in precision agriculture, leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity and sustainability in dryland regions.

At the heart of this partnership is KanoTec Solutions’ Data Platform for Precision Agriculture (DPA), an advanced system that integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing.

This platform empowers farmers with real-time data and insights, enabling them to make informed decisions that optimize resource utilization, reduce costs, and promote environmentally friendly farming practices.

The DPA technology provides a comprehensive view of critical factors influencing crop growth, including soil conditions, environmental factors, and detailed weather data.

The platform also incorporates GPS mapping, allowing for precise monitoring of soil and crop conditions across the farmland.

Dr. Aminu Bello emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it represents a transformative step in advancing agricultural productivity and sustainability in dryland regions.

Professor Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin, Director of CDA, expressed delight with the collaboration, stating that it aligns with the Centre’s mission to improve livelihood, resilience, and sustainable use of natural resources in African drylands.
