In a bid to enhance effective communication delivery across various departments of the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), a two-day in-house capacity-building workshop was organized for selected staff drawn from the Press Unit, ICT Department, and School Services Support Department.
The workshop, chaired by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, focused on equipping participants with practical skills for strategic communication.
Federal Government Unveils Bold Education Reforms
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Folasade emphasized the importance of communication in the public service space and urged the participants to pay close attention throughout the sessions.
She highlighted that the knowledge gained would not only improve their individual competencies but also contribute to the overall communication output of the Ministry.
The training sessions were led by Dr. Oluwashola Mary Okpodu, a seasoned communication expert and consultant from the PLANE (Partnership for Learning for All in Nigerian Education) initiative.
Dr. Okpodu delivered a series of engaging presentations covering various aspects of communication strategy.

These included strategic planning, public speaking, effective press release writing and reconstruction, identification and justification of different types of reports, and techniques for organizing scattered content into coherent narratives.
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the practical segment on script writing and structural content creation, which enabled participants to apply the theoretical knowledge in hands-on sessions.
Dr. Okpodu underscored the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in communication methods, urging participants to keep developing strategies that align with modern communication demands.
The two-day training was widely regarded as a successful and well-coordinated exercise. Participants expressed satisfaction with the practical and interactive nature of the sessions, describing the experience as enriching and timely.
The Federal Ministry of Education, through such initiatives, continues to show commitment to capacity building and institutional strengthening, especially in the area of effective internal and external communication.
