    Fed Ministry of Edu Engages Rectors Provosts in Strategic Dialogue

    During the meeting with the Rectors and Provosts of Federal Colleges and Polytechnics, Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa emphasized the importance of the gathering as a valuable platform to address critical challenges facing Nigeria’s educational institutions.

    Highlighting the revitalization of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) as a top priority, he outlined the adoption of the Pareto principle, favoring an 80/20 ratio of practical to theoretical training.

    This approach, he stated, is pivotal in equipping students with hands-on skills for high-impact careers such as ICT.

    Dr. Alausa underscored innovative strategies to tackle low enrollment rates, including forging partnerships with private sector entities like the Bank of Industry (BOI) and NELFUND.

    He urged Federal Colleges and Polytechnics to lead in implementing rigorous pre-service training for teachers and adopting global pedagogical standards.

    Education Key to Unlocking Nigeria’s Potential – Minister

    Furthermore, he stressed the importance of strong collaboration between Governing Councils and institutional leaders, calling for complementary roles to address Nigeria’s needs in areas such as education, food security, capacity building, and research.

    Concluding, Dr. Alausa expressed hope that the meeting would enable participants to reflect on challenges, share experiences, and develop strategies for enhanced institutional performance.

    Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda Vows to Boost Education Sector

    He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to an open-door policy and continued support for stakeholders.

    In her welcome address, Honoursble Minister of State’s Education Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad commended Dr. Alausa for his dedication to improving governance and achieving realistic goals in the education sector.

    She urged institutional leaders to identify practical solutions to existing challenges, emphasizing the importance of open and honest discussions during the meeting.

    Professor Ahmad highlighted the need for stronger partnerships among stakeholders to foster mutual growth and enhance the nation’s education system. She expressed optimism for fruitful discussions that would pave the way for a brighter future.

    The Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of accurate data collection from Polytechnics and Colleges.

    Enhancing Federal Polytechnics, Colleges of Education

    He emphasized that providing precise information on institutional needs is critical for ensuring proper resource allocation and addressing gaps effectively.

    Professor Farooq, Chairman of the Committee of Provosts, and Professor Aliyu the Chairman of the Committee of Rectors jointly appealed to the Ministry to address the financial challenges faced by Federal Colleges and Polytechnics.

    Dr. Ghali Invests in Education, Healthcare, and Infrastructure

    They expressed gratitude to Dr. Alausa for consistently approving submissions for various projects and urged continued attention to funding issues to enhance institutional performance.
