During the meeting with the Rectors and Provosts of Federal Colleges and Polytechnics, Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa emphasized the importance of the gathering as a valuable platform to address critical challenges facing Nigeria’s educational institutions.

Highlighting the revitalization of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) as a top priority, he outlined the adoption of the Pareto principle, favoring an 80/20 ratio of practical to theoretical training.

This approach, he stated, is pivotal in equipping students with hands-on skills for high-impact careers such as ICT.

Dr. Alausa underscored innovative strategies to tackle low enrollment rates, including forging partnerships with private sector entities like the Bank of Industry (BOI) and NELFUND.

He urged Federal Colleges and Polytechnics to lead in implementing rigorous pre-service training for teachers and adopting global pedagogical standards.
