The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the renaming of the Ministry of Special Duties to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties.
The State Commissioner of Information Youth Sports and Culture Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmad disclosed this while briefing newsmen after the council meeting.

Presided over by Governor Umar Namadi, the approval followed a memo presented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
He explained that the aim is to broaden the Ministry’s mandate to address emerging humanitarian challenges such as perennial flooding and to improve its administrative efficiency.
Alhaji Sagir explained that the change aligns with national and international standards, particularly the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, enabling improved access to humanitarian aid and funds.

He added that the council has also approved ₦19,632,536,424.30 for the Construction of 560 Mass Housing Units across the State.
The commissioner of Information said the move is in line with the administration’s vision for inclusive development and sustainable urban growth.
