In its quest to make sure that all the stakeholders of the Drugs Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme are abreast with its revised operational guidelines, the State Sustainable Health Commodity Supply (SHCSS) Committee organized a three-day orientation to its members and facility DRF operators in primary and secondary health facilities.

The main objective of the exercise is to keep the stakeholders well informed about the nitty-gritty of the contents of the document for the effective running of DRF in the facilities operating the scheme for efficient service delivery.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Committee and also the Director Pharmaceutical Services of the state Ministry of Health, Pharm. Kamilu Mudi Salisu highlighted that orienting stakeholders on the operational guideline is pertinent and timely, emphasizing that it will take them through the details of the document for excellent service delivery in the facilities.

He explained that participants would be taken through the document to know what it takes so that whatever happens at any time they could quickly recall how it could be handled in their various places of work, by this, he assured, DRF would continue to strengthen in the state.

He sadly noted that it has been the tradition that whenever such a document is reviewed and distributed, many a times operators leave it in their offices untouched until if there is conflict or dispute they then refer back to the document for solution, hoping that the trend would be changed.

“We know that the DRF in Kano State has come a long way, and we cannot allow it to go down the drain just like that. Some of us here suffered a lot to see that the programme Is sustained. I can beat my chest to say that our DRF is the best you can think of in the country.

“As pioneers of the successful DRF, we shouldn’t allow it to collapse. Orienting the stakeholders on this revised guideline is pertinent and timely, because the orientation will take us through the fullest areas of the document with hope that the operators would be referring back to its contents and put it into practice at all times, not only when dispute erupts”, said the chairman.

Pharm. Kamilu then charged the participants to be attentive to tap knowledge from seasoned actors of the DRF, who have vast experience on scheme.

He then commended the giant strides of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving exclusive attention to the healthcare system since coming on board, resulting in achieving lots of accomplishments within the shortest period of time.
