Alh. Aliyu Sani, the acting Zonal Coordinator of Northwest Zone, National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB) has expressed concerns over the low submission of Hausa films for censoring.
He emphasized that film censoring and data keeping are crucial for the growth of the northern film industry, as it would attract federal government interventions and international organizations.
During his visit to Alh. Abba El-mustapha, Executive Secretary of Kano State Censorship Board, Alh. Sani appealed to the board to educate stakeholders on the importance of collaborating with the National Film censor for data keeping and collection.
He clarified that the board’s primary focus is film regulation, not revenue generation.
The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) is the regulatory body set up by Act No.85 of 1993 to regulate films and video industry in Nigeria.
The Board is empowered by law to classify all films and videos whether imported or produced locally.
