In commemoration of Nigeria’s 2025 Democracy Day, Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, made an early morning visit to hospitals in Maiduguri on Thursday, arriving at the State Specialist Hospital at 5:00 a.m.
The Governor sympathized with patients and donated ₦50,000 each to those in the gynaecology, antenatal, postnatal, and emergency wards.

He later visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital with similar gestures, covering medical bills and expressing his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare.
As part of the celebrations, Zulum also commissioned 20 road projects and flagged off the construction of two hospitals and an international conference centre.
The new hospitals — Borno Orthopaedic Hospital in Goni Kachallari and a General Hospital in Kaleri — are located in Jere Local Government Area.

Since assuming office, Zulum’s administration has executed over 1,000 projects spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and environmental development.
