The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ,has congratulated Bilkisu Maimota on her historic appointment as the first female Head of Service in Kano State.
In a statement,signed by the National Secretary of NAWOJ, Wasilah Ladan, the association described the appointment as a landmark achievement that reflects Maimota’s competence, dedication, and years of exemplary service to the state.
According to the statement, the NAWOJ National Chairperson, Aisha Ibrahim, said the appointment sends a strong message about women’s capacity to lead at the highest levels of governance.
“Hajia Maimota’s appointment is a bold statement that women are capable and ready to lead at the highest levels. It is a victory for merit, inclusion, and every young girl who dreams of serving her state and nation,” she said.
Ibrahim expressed confidence that Maimota would reposition the Kano State Civil Service for improved efficiency and productivity, urging her to remain a beacon of excellence.
NAWOJ described the development as a major milestone for gender equity and merit-based leadership in Nigeria, noting that it would inspire more women to aspire to top positions in public service.
The association also wished the new Head of Service a successful and impactful tenure, expressing optimism that her leadership would bring renewed hope, transparency, and institutional growth to the Kano State Civil Service.
