Kano State is taking significant steps to enhance its healthcare sector. The Ministry of Health has organized a 5-day workshop in Kaduna State to develop the 2025 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the health sector.
This initiative aims to harmonize activities among agencies and parastatals to achieve a unified health goal.
Objectives of the workshop is to Orient stakeholders on Sector Wide Approach (SWAp), Finalize situation analysis for 2025 AOP, Review and finalize MDAs’ level AOP, Cross-validate planned activities to reduce duplication, Ensure alignment with development partners’ plans and Harmonize health facilities and MDAs’ AOP into state-level AOP.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, emphasized the importance of SWAp in reducing maternal and under-five children mortality and improving health outcomes nationwide.
The Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Aminu Sa’ad Ungogo, assured that the House will provide legislative support for SWAp’s implementation.
This development is consistent with Kano State’s Development Plan 2020-2025, which focuses on designing a robust healthcare system ². The state has also launched the Kano Action Plan for Health Security, emphasizing a multi-sectoral approach to healthcare
