The Kano State Government KNSG has reiterated its determination to deepen collaboration with NGOs to enhance the state’s education sector.
The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, gave this assurance on while inspecting a donation of teaching and learning materials provided by Plan International and its consortium partners at the Ministry’s premises.

Makoda emphasized that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is committed to creating a conducive teaching and learning environment across the state.

“Education is this administration’s top priority, and we have already embarked on several initiatives to overhaul the entire sector so as to make it more accessible and ensure quality for all.”
The Commissioner noted that Plan International’s ongoing project Accelerating Basic Education and Livelihood Opportunities for Children and Youth in North-Western Nigeria (ABEP) is playing a significant role in enhancing access to basic education and livelihood skills in Kano, Jigawa, and Sokoto.

Makoda acknowledged the contributions of Plan International and its consortium partners in providing the learning materials, assuring that the materials would be judiciously utilized to achieve measurable progress in education.
Earlier, Project Coordinator for Plan International, Mr. David Okay, explained that over 6,000 learning materials including exercise books, pens, bags, rulers, sharpeners, erasers, chalkboards, chalk, textbooks, jackets, and other teaching aids would be distributed across five local government areas: Kumbotso, Nasarawa, Gwale, Tudun Wada, and Rimin Gado.
Mr. Okay explained that the distribution exercise was funded by the European Union under the ABEP initiative and would support teaching and learning in 72 classes across 20 designated learning centers.
He expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government for its continued support and assured of Plan International’s commitment to furthering educational programmes in the state.
