The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has recommended either the revocation or comprehensive upgrade of the five-kilometer road construction project in Gabasawa Local Government Area.

This decision followed the adoption of a report presented by the House Standing Committee on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, regarding the recent flood disaster in Zakirai, Gabasawa LGA.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Sule Lawan Shuwaki, highlighted key recommendations which include:Directing the contractor to expand the drainage system in the affected area and Providing urgent relief to flood victims.

Others are deploying a team of experts from the state ministries of Works and Environment to conduct an assessment for expert recommendations.

After careful deliberation, the House unanimously adopted the report and called on the state government to take immediate action to mitigate the flood crisis in Zakirai.

Mover of the motion, Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Daneji, representing Kano Municipal Constituency, emphasized that the road especially the stretch around Kasuwar Kurmi market is in a deplorable state, posing challenges to movement and affecting economic activities.

Similarly, Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya, representing Gezawa Constituency, moved a motion for the construction of a tarred road from Jogana to Matallawa, Yamadi Charo, and Daraudau.

He noted that the road becomes impassable during the rainy season, forcing residents to engage in self-help efforts by filling potholes with sand and wood.

The motion was seconded by the Majority Whip, Alhaji Zakariyya Abdullahi Nuhu, and gained full support of the lawmakers.

Other motions adopted during the plenary include:Road construction from Dalawada to Gazobi in Tudun Wada LGA and Reconstruction of the Fanisau Ungogo Road.
