The Special Committee on the Revival of Kwankwasiyya and Amana City has conducted an inspection visit to the two cities to assess their physical condition and determine the necessary interventions for their full habitation.

Speaking to newsmen during the visit, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, stated that the visit was in line with the committee’s mandate to ensure that all houses in the two cities are occupied, either by their owners or through tenancy.
He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his commitment to the development of the cities, noting that the Governor has already provided critical infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, and other essential amenities.

“The Governor has done a wonderful job in ensuring that Kwankwasiyya and Amana City have the necessary infrastructure to support residents. Our task now is to assess additional needs such as security, fencing, and the construction of schools, which the residents have requested,” Waiya stated.
He further explained that the committee is working tirelessly within the three-month timeline set by the Governor to finalize its recommendations.
Waiya also urged homeowners to comply with the directive by occupying their houses or making them available for rent within the given timeframe.
As part of the visit, the inspection team visited the office of the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps, where they discussed security issues in the area.
Among the members of the committee who visited the two cities were the Commissioner of Housing and Development, Architect Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, and the Managing Director of Kano Housing Corporation, Abdullahi Rabi’u.
