The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has restated its commitment to quality service delivery to enhance disaster risk management in the country.

The event themed: “Above and Beyond” attracted representatives of the Red Cross Society, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant stakeholders.

Umar said the programme was a global initiative that recognised the essential role of customer service in organisations and those providing the services.

Represented by Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, Coordinator Kano Territorial Office, NEMA, said the Customer Service Week was relevant to the agency’s operations.

“Any successful agency must be committed to delivering exceptional service to its customers, stakeholders and in our case those we serve are often the most vulnerable members of the society who are victims of emergencies and disasters.

“Our customers, whether they are victims of natural disasters, displaced persons, or communities impacted by disasters, rely on us to provide timely, efficient and compassionate assistance,” she said.

She commended members of staff of the agency for their resilience and perseverance in the face of challenges during disasters and emergencies.

“Your ability to remain calm, collected and focused on the needs of those affected is invaluable.

“The empathy, professionalism and dedication you display when dealing with affected individuals and communities speak volumes about NEMA’s core values of service, integrity, and humanity,” Umar said.

The NEMA boss tasked the personnel to dedicate themselves towards ensuring quality service delivery, adding that, “teamwork remains one of the agency’s strongest assets.

“As we are in an era where technology is changing the landscape of emergency management, let us embrace innovation and continuously improve our systems and processes to better serve the public”.

According to Umar, the complexity of emergency situation requires collaboration across different departments and external partners, and reaffirmed commitment to achieve excellence via innovation and teamwork.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger and more responsive agency that stands ready to serve the people of this nation in their times of greatest need above and beyond their expectations”.
