The Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahaya on his election as the National President of the NUJ.
In a statement signed by the council chairman NUJ Kano Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi and the secretary Abubakar Shehu Kwaru.
The statement explained that, this milestone was achieved during the 8th Triennial National Delegates Conference held in Owerri, Imo State.
“Comrade Yahaya emerged victorious with 436 votes, surpassing his opponents Comrade Dele Atunbi and Comrade Garba Mohammed. The conference, which brought together about 600 delegates from state councils across the country, also saw the election of Comrade Abimbola Oyetunde as the Deputy National President “
The Kano State Council expressed its elation over Comrade Yahaya’s victory, stating that it symbolizes the collective aspiration of journalists across Nigeria for robust leadership in the union.
The council also congratulated Comrade Yahaya’s deputy and other newly elected executive members, praising their commitment and dedication to the principles of journalism.
