The Chairman of the NUJ Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, has lauded the Commissioner, Ministry for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya for his commitment to improving journalism through the establishment of the Kano Information Advisory Council and the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund.

In a statement he signed on Friday, the Chairman of the Kano Council, Comrade Dederi said these initiatives are aimed at enhancing the professionalism and welfare of journalists in the state.
According to him, the seven members of the Kano Information Advisory Council are:
1. Alhaji Ahmed Aminu – Chairman
2. Alhaji Mohammed Danyaro
3. Alhaji Farouk Umar Usman
4. Hajiya Aisha Sule
5. Mallam Auwalu Mu’azu
6. Alhaji Bello Sani Galadanchi

The statement noted that further demonstrating its commitment to fostering a strong and collaborative relationship with the media, Hon. Ibrahim Waiya announced the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund.

Additionally, he added that the Iftar (fast-breaking) event, organized by the Honourable Commissioner for Information in collaboration with the NUJ Council, brought together veterans, stakeholders, and journalists in Kano, stressing, this event marked a historic milestone in the council’s history.
Comrade Dederi however noted that “NUJ Kano State Council extends its appreciation to the distinguished personalities who attended the event.”
