Dederi, Kano State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, the Court of Appeal’s judgment on January 10, 2025, upheld the state’s authority to reinstate Sanusi .
Dederi clarified that the Court of Appeal’s recent decision only granted a temporary stay of execution, pending the Supreme Court’s ruling, and did not invalidate the January 10 judgment.

He emphasized that only the Supreme Court has the power to overturn the ruling.
The January 10 judgment had also nullified an earlier Federal High Court judgment that sought to invalidate Sanusi’s reinstatement, affirming that the lower court lacked jurisdiction over the emirate matter.
