In a bold step to promote agricultural development and amplify the voices of farmers, the maiden print edition of the newspaper Farmers Voice NG has been officially unveiled in Kano State.
Speaking at the launch, the Editor, Buhari Abba, emphasized the critical role of agriculture in national development. “Agriculture is too important to be ignored,” he stated, reaffirming the newspaper’s commitment to filling its pages with the voices and opinions of rural farmers, expert analysis, and policy debates grounded in truth.

Abba highlighted that stories about agriculture in Nigeria go beyond challenges. “These are also stories of survival of youths returning to farms, women forming cooperatives, and communities pushing through droughts, insecurity, and poor infrastructure to feed the nation,” he said
He added, “This print edition is just the beginning. We envision a future where Farmers Voice NG becomes a reference point, not just in Kano or Nigeria, but across Africa.”

According to Abba, the idea behind Farmers Voice NG was sown on April 14, 2023. “We started as a digital newspaper with a clear mission: to shine a spotlight on agriculture, livestock, food systems, and the communities that sustain them,” he explained.
“In a media landscape dominated by politics, scandal, and noise, we chose to listen to the earth listen to the smallholder farmer, the herder in transit, the agro-innovator, the rural woman who grows food but is rarely heard,” he added.
He described the newspaper as a “mirror to food systems that reflects resilience, innovation, and the dignity of labor.”
Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Government, Malam Mustapha Muhammad, described the launch as a significant step toward agricultural transformation.
“This initiative gives a voice to poor farmers and serves as a communication bridge during a time when we are battling climate change and food insecurity,”
“It will help disseminate best agricultural practices to farmers across Nigeria and beyond.”
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Provost of the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano, Dr. Bashir Barau expressed confidence that the publication would enlighten farmers on innovations and current trends shaping the agricultural sector.
