Residents of Makwarari in Kano municipal local government area were thrown into shock after three people were trapped under a rubble following the collapse of a one-story building.
The public relations officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, explained that the incident occurred at approximately 09:30 am, according to emergency services.
He pointed out that, the building, which was used as a dwelling house, measured about 30 x 40 ft had collapsed suddenly, crushing three occupants.
The public relations officer maintained that the victims, identified as Balaraba Abba, a 35-year-old mother, and her two children, Abdulnasir Jilani, 12, and Abdullahi Jilani, 9, were rescued alive by emergency responders and bystanders.
“The Kano State Emergency Management Agency received an emergency call from staff member Ibrahim Isah, who reported the incident. Responders rushed to the scene and worked to free the trapped victims”
Saminu stressed that all three victims were taken to Murtala Muhammad Hospital for treatment.
“Their condition is currently unknown”
He hinted that the investigation has commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
