The Jigawa State Government has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega as Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform.
Reacting to the appointment, the Technical Adviser to the Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Saifullahi Umar, described it as a strategic move that will enhance the implementation of sustainable livestock reforms in Nigeria.

He noted that Professor Jega’s vast experience in governance and administration would be crucial in driving policies that modernize the livestock sector and promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.
According to Dr. Umar, Jigawa State, under Governor Umar Namadi’s leadership, has prioritized agricultural development, including livestock transformation, as a key pillar of economic growth.

He expressed optimism that the collaboration between state governments and the newly appointed Special Adviser will yield tangible benefits, particularly for pastoralists, farmers, and other stakeholders in the livestock value chain.
According to him “The appointment of Professor Jega is a testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the livestock sector. With his integrity and experience, we are confident that he will help implement meaningful reforms that will bring lasting solutions to the issues affecting farmers and herders across the country,” Dr. Umar stated.
He further emphasized that Jigawa State remains committed to supporting national efforts aimed at enhancing livestock productivity, resolving land-use conflicts, and ensuring food security.

Professor Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and ex-Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, co-chaired the Presidential Livestock Reform Committee alongside President Tinubu before his latest appointment.
