Alhaji Tijjani Haladu Baraya, the Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) in Kano State, has been elected as the chairman of the SBMC for the North-West geopolitical zone.
This election was part of the Universal Basic Education Commission’s (UBEC) efforts to establish a national leadership for the SBMC.

The North-West zone, which comprises seven states including Kano, was actively involved in the process.
Other notable elections include Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Wazirin Gwandu from Kebbi State as the national chairman of the SBMC, and Dr. Ashir Ismail from Lagos State as the national secretary.
Baraya expressed his gratitude to Malam Yusuf Kabir, Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board in Kano, for his support in facilitating Kano State’s participation in the election.
