In a significant development, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has declared that the Kwankwasiyya ideology, led by Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,is no longer relevant in Kano.
Hon. Ata made this announcement during a courtesy visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
According to him, the Kwankwasiyya ideology has lost its appeal, and only a handful of political followers still identify with it.

“The last nail has been hammered into the coffin of Kwankwasiyya,” Hon. Ata stated. “As someone who has had extensive experience with Dr. Kwankwaso’s political disposition, I can confidently say that his ideology has lost its relevance in Kano.”
When asked about speculations surrounding Dr. Kwankwaso’s possible defection to APC, Hon. Ata expressed reservations, stating that he was not enthusiastic about the idea of Kwankwaso joining their party.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, welcomed Hon. Ata’s visit and praised him for his visit and respect for the party.
On the possibility of Dr. Kwankwaso and his followers defecting to APC, Dr. Ganduje said, “We will welcome anyone who has lost political hope and is seeking shelter. We will salvage and accommodate them with open arms.”
Dr. Ganduje’s comments suggest that the APC is open to receiving politicians from other parties who are looking to join forces with the ruling party.

The development is seen as a significant blow to the Kwankwasiyya ideology, which has been a major force in Kano politics.
