Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, one of Northern Nigeria’s most influential businessmen and revered elder statesmen, has passed away at the age of 94 following a prolonged illness.
The announcement was made by Uba Tanko Mijinyawa, Deputy National Treasurer of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), in a heartfelt social media post.

Born on May 19, 1931, Dantata was a pillar of Nigeria’s private sector, with extensive ventures in real estate, petroleum, and finance.
Beyond business, he was widely respected for his philanthropy, especially in education and youth empowerment across the northern region.

Dantata was also a former member of the Kano State Government and played a historic role as part of the Constitution Drafting Committee that prepared Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution.

Funeral details are expected to be released by the family in the coming hours.
