In a significant political shift in Kano, over 960 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Alhaji Baba Sabiu, Chairman of the party in Dala Local Government Area, have defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) .
This mass defection comes just weeks before the local government elections scheduled for October 26.
The defectors, including former councilors from 12 wards in the Dala LGA, cited a desire for progressive change as their reason for joining the NNPP.
Alhaji Sabiu expressed confidence in the NNPP’s ability to bring about meaningful reforms and bolster its chances in the polls .
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, National Leader of the NNPP, welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal treatment within the party.
Kwankwaso reiterated the NNPP’s commitment to socio-economic and political advancement, focusing on the 2027 agenda.
This defection is a significant boost to the NNPP’s chances in the upcoming elections and reflects the growing dissatisfaction with the APC’s governance in Kano.
