Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan has been hospitalised at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after reportedly suffering a minor brain haemorrhage, raising concern among fans and members of the film industry.
Salim Khan, 90, father of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was admitted to the hospital on February 17, 2026, and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to doctors, his condition is stable and he remains under close medical observation.
Senior pulmonologist Dr Jalil D. Parkar, who is part of the medical team attending to him, clarified that the veteran writer did not undergo any major surgery, contrary to earlier reports.
“He was having jerks and his blood pressure was high. We treated him and placed him on ventilator support as a precaution to prevent his condition from worsening. He is stable and doing well. Age is a factor, so recovery may take some time,” the doctor said.
He added that Salim Khan is expected to be taken off ventilator support as his condition continues to improve.
The news of his hospitalisation prompted visits from several family members and close associates.
Salman Khan was seen at the hospital alongside his mother Salma Khan and stepmother Helen. His children, including Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and Arpita Khan, were also present. Grandsons Nirvaan and Arhaan, as well as son-in-law Aayush Sharma, visited to check on his condition.
Veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, Salim Khan’s longtime friend and former writing partner, also visited him at the hospital.
The duo, popularly known as Salim-Javed, are widely regarded as one of the most influential writing partnerships in Indian cinema.
Together, they wrote several iconic films including Sholay, Zanjeer, and Deewar, which helped shape modern Hindi cinema and established actors such as Amitabh Bachchan as major stars.
Meanwhile, actor Somy Ali, who was previously in a relationship with Salman Khan, expressed concern and offered prayers for Salim Khan’s recovery.
In a message shared on social media, she described him as a father figure and praised both his professional brilliance and personal kindness.
Hospital authorities have assured the public that Salim Khan remains stable and is under constant monitoring, with further updates expected as his recovery progresses.
