The Director General of Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency DMCSA, Pharmacist Ghali Sule, has urged the newly-appointed Executive Secretary of Kano State Consumer Protection Council, Alhaji Zangina Jafaru, and other council members to prioritize the safety and well-being of consumers.

Pharmacist Sule advised the appointees to be dedicated, honest, and God-fearing while discharging their duties, emphasizing that their actions would significantly impact the people of Kano.

He also stressed the importance of partnering with relevant stakeholders, including the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the state Ministry of Health.

In his remarks, the ES KSCPC Alhaji Zangina Jafaru ,solicited for cooperation and support of the entire staff of the Agency and all stakeholders, warning that the business is not going to be as usual.

In their separate remarks, Honorable Ibrahim Ahmad Gama (Lugard) and Hajiya Sadiya Umar Bichi, who spoke on behalf of the appointees, thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for finding them worthy foftof theointments, pledging to work tirelessly to achieve desired goals.

Those appointed as key members of the council include Honorable Ibrahim Ahmad Gama (Member representing Kano Central), Hajiya Sadiya Umar Bichi (Member representing Kano North), Alhaji Hussaini Bello Gidado (Member representing Kano South) Alhaji Munzali Abubakar (Representative of the business community I, Kantin Kwari Market), Ali Muhammad Adakawa (Representative of business community II, Kwanar Singa), Alhaji Ahmed Isah Chedi (Representative of business community III, Dawanau Market), and Sani Gambo (Representative of business community IV, Abubakar Rimi Market).

Others are Halima Yahuza Ahmad (Representative of the Ministry of Justice), Prof. Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad (Representative of the Ministry of Health), Aminu Gidado Yusha’u (Representative of the Ministry of Environment), Bashir Shehu Gezawa (Representative of the Ministry of Local Government), Maryam Halilu Haruna, Director Special Duties, (Representative of the Ministry of Women Affairs), Bashir Uba, Director Investment, (Representative of the Ministry of Investment/Commerce), Faisal Mahmud (Representative of the Ministry of Transportation, Agency), Umar Zubairu (Representative of Special Service Directorate) and Shamsu Jibrin Secretary Legal Adviser.

The KSCPC comprises seasoned professionals, government officials, and business representatives from various markets and ministries.

The council’s primary mandate is to protect consumer rights, ensure fair trade practices, and promote a safe and healthy environment for residents.

The inauguration of the KSCPC is a significant step towards safeguarding the rights and interests of consumers in Kano State. The council is expected to work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that businesses operate in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner.
