The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has inaugurated the Governing Councils and Principal Officers of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia Kaduna.
This milestone event marks a significant step towards transforming the educational landscape in Nigeria.
Bishop Kukah to Lead Federal University of Applied Sciences
The university, which was formerly known as Nok University, was taken over by the Federal Government following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This move is a testament to the President’s commitment to expanding access to quality education in Nigeria.
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Alausa emphasized the importance of the university in providing services to the nation.

He highlighted the six-point agenda in education, which includes Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), quality assurance, girl child education, capacity building for teachers, and ethical university practices.
The Minister also called for the immediate enrollment of the first set of students in September 2025 and promised support from the Ministry in all aspects.
He urged all education regulatory institutions, such as JAMB and NUC, to create portals for the university.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, expressed his gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education for making the governance process smooth. He noted that 60% of the problems in Southern Kaduna have been solved with the establishment of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Qurix Williams Barnabas, pledged to take the university to greater heights and contribute to the development of the nation.
He thanked the Minister of Education, the President, and the Vice President for their support and cooperation.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and Senator Sunday Marshall Kaltung.
The federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia Kaduna is poised to become a beacon of excellence in education, providing opportunities for young Nigerians to acquire knowledge and skills that will propel the nation forward.
