The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has secured a sweeping victory in Kano State’s local government elections, winning all chairmanship and councilor seats in the 44 local government areas.

This was announced by Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), who confirmed that the elections were conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law.

Six parties participated in the elections, including AA, AAC, Accord, ADC, and NNPP. The commission expressed gratitude to stakeholders, including security personnel, journalists, civil society organizations, and citizens, for their peaceful conduct.

This outcome is significant, especially considering the controversy surrounding the nomination fees imposed by KANSIEC, which some argued would exclude smaller parties from participating.

However, NNPP’s victory suggests that the party’s support base in Kano State remains strong.
