The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Plateau State, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives. He has ordered a major deployment of security assets to restore calm and ensure the apprehension of those responsible.
IGP Disu extended his condolences to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the affected families, and residents of Angwan Rukuba for the tragic incident.
The IGP deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to Plateau State to assess the security situation, coordinate ongoing operations, and strengthen existing security structures.
Further, IGP Disu has intensified operations by deploying additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives in collaboration with other security agencies to tackle security challenges and prevent any further breakdown of law and order across the state.
“The ongoing security operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored,” the IGP stated. He has instructed all operational commanders to maintain visible policing and actively engage with vulnerable communities.
IGP Disu urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies, warning against taking the law into their own hands.
He also encouraged citizens to promptly report any incidents or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to support ongoing security efforts.
