The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has commiserated with traders affected by last week’s fire outbreak at Singa Market, describing the incident as devastating and deeply distressing.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo expressed sympathy to traders who lost goods and property in the inferno.
He said the incident was particularly painful given the economic challenges facing small-scale traders striving to sustain their livelihoods.
“I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate fire incident that has caused significant losses to hardworking traders,” the deputy governor said.
The fire, which destroyed goods worth millions of naira, affected several sections of the market and left many traders counting their losses.
Gwarzo urged residents and market operators to adopt stricter safety measures and intensify prayers to help prevent future fire outbreaks across the state.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor extended Ramadan greetings to Muslim faithful across Kano State, calling on them to use the holy month to pray for peace, unity, and stability.
He described Ramadan as a sacred period of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal, and encouraged Muslims to seek divine intervention in addressing security challenges facing parts of the country.
Gwarzo reaffirmed the state government’s support for affected traders and urged citizens to embrace the values of compassion, solidarity, and peaceful coexistence during the Ramadan period.
