President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received Nigeria’s newly appointed Tax Ombudsman, John Nwabueze, at the State House in Abuja, signaling his administration’s commitment to strengthening tax administration and improving revenue governance.
The creation of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman is a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda.
The office is tasked with enhancing transparency, resolving disputes, reducing multiple taxation, and protecting citizens and businesses from undue fiscal burdens.
The Tax Ombudsman will serve as an independent channel for addressing complaints related to taxes, levies, customs duties, and other regulatory charges, contributing to a fairer and more predictable business environment.
Present at the meeting were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Officials say the reform will strengthen public sector accountability, boost investor confidence, and reinforce Nigeria’s competitiveness, laying a firm foundation for inclusive growth and long-term economic stability.
