The Federal Government has commissioned emergency and special intervention road projects in Kebbi State to address flood-related damages along the Birnin Kebbi–Argungu–Kaniyaka Road.
The commissioning was led by Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Northwest Zone.
He said the project underscores President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to resolving critical infrastructure challenges across the North West and other parts of Nigeria.
“The intervention has attracted widespread appreciation from residents of the area, as it will significantly reduce recurrent flooding along this strategic road corridor,”
Alhaji Yakasai said, urging the people of Kebbi State and the wider North West region to continue supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
During the visit, the Special Assistant also inspected the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway project, describing the progress as commendable.
According to him, about seven kilometres of the road have been completed with concrete reinforcement, while earthworks have been carried out on approximately 135 kilometres.
Speaking on the Kebbi project, Mr. Ishaya Vandu, Controller of the Federal Ministry of Works in the state, said the road was awarded by President Tinubu in 2024 under the emergency and special intervention initiative.
The project aims to curb recurring flooding and erosion that had threatened the integrity of the Birnin Kebbi-Argungu-Kaniyaka dual carriageway.
The Sokoto-Badagry Road, spanning 1,068 kilometres, is a long-standing national infrastructure project that was first conceived during the administration of the late President Shehu Shagari and is now being realized under the Tinubu administration.
