For the past seven years, Hakeem Subair has been at the helm of 1 Million Teachers (1MT) as its Chief Executive Officer, leading a mission to revolutionize teacher training and professional development.

Under his leadership, 1MT has grown into a global force, currently supporting approximately 38,000 teachers across 19 countries—with 16 of these nations located in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Through a range of reward-based teacher professional development programs, the organization addresses the pressing challenge of teacher shortages and inadequate training.

1MT’s three-pronged approach to teacher empowerment includes:

    1. Attracting New Teachers – Encouraging and inspiring individuals to join the teaching profession.

    2. Training Untrained Teachers – Providing educational support to active but untrained teachers who face financial, geographic, or systemic barriers to formal training.

    3. Continuous Professional Development – Ensuring that teachers receive ongoing education to enhance their teaching methodologies and effectiveness.

    A Lasting Impact on Education

By focusing on scalability and accessibility, 1MT ensures that its programs reach educators in even the most remote areas.

The organization’s work aligns with global efforts to improve education quality, particularly in regions where underfunded school systems struggle to provide adequate teacher preparation.

Under Hakeem Subair’s leadership, 1MT is not just training teachers—it is shaping the future of education by empowering educators to drive real change in their communities.

As the organization continues to expand, its impact on global education is set to grow, bringing the world closer to achieving inclusive and quality education for all.
