The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced the successful restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in Warri, Delta State, bringing the critical energy infrastructure back to full operations.
The pipeline was shut down following an unexpected explosion on December 10, 2025. In response, NNPC Limited said it immediately activated emergency protocols, deployed containment measures, and mobilised multidisciplinary teams to repair the damaged section.
According to the company, the affected portion of the pipeline was repaired, pressure-tested, and safely recommissioned in line with regulatory and safety standards, ensuring the integrity of the asset before resuming operations.
NNPC Limited described the restoration as a demonstration of its resilience and strong commitment to Nigeria’s energy security.
The company acknowledged the support of host communities, regulatory authorities, security agencies, as well as partners and staff, noting that their cooperation and dedication were instrumental in restoring the pipeline within a short timeframe.
NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection, community safety, and the continued maintenance of its infrastructure to ensure reliable energy supply for the country.
