Islamic scholars in Kano State have called on the state government to enhance its support for the Hisbah Board to improve its effectiveness and sustain peace across the state.
The call was made during a Sallah courtesy visit by senior officials of the Kano State Hisbah Board to prominent Islamic scholars. The Deputy Commander-General of Hisbah, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar, led the delegation on behalf of the Commander-General, Sheikh Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa.
Speaking during the visit, Sheikh Dr. Daurawa said the engagement was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the Board and Islamic scholars in recognition of their vital contributions to societal development.
He commended the scholars for their sermons during the Ramadan period, noting that their teachings had reinforced the principles of promoting good and discouraging wrongdoing. He urged them to sustain their support for the Hisbah Board through continued cooperation and prayers.
In his remarks, the Acting Commander-General in charge of Training and Discipline, Dr. Jamilu Ajiya, highlighted the critical role scholars play in the activities of the Board. He described them as central to the implementation of Islamic principles and the continued relevance of Hisbah operations.
Responding, the scholars expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Board. They advised Hisbah personnel to remain dedicated, patient, and sincere in the discharge of their duties.
The scholars also appealed to the Kano State Government to provide greater assistance to the Board, particularly in the areas of operational equipment and improved welfare packages for personnel. They noted that the presence and activities of the Hisbah Board have significantly contributed to the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.
Among those visited were Professor Sheikh Umar Sani Fagge, Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdallah, Sheikh Abubakar Umar Kandahar, and Sheikh Nasiru Muhammad Adam.
The visit concluded with the presentation of copies of the Holy Qur’an and letters of appreciation to the scholars. Senior officials of the Hisbah Board accompanied the Deputy Commander-General during the engagement.
