The Director General of the Argungu International Fishing Festival, Alhaji Safiyanu Bena, has empowered 85 youths in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State with the sum of ₦1.7 million to support the mobilisation of eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Alhaji Bena represented by Engineer Tukur Hamidu Bena described the initiative as a show of generosity and a demonstration of commitment to grassroots development.

He noted that the empowerment aligns with the ideals of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, who has consistently encouraged political leaders and well-to-do individuals to support community initiatives, empower young people, and promote civic responsibility.
According to him, the funds will support 85 volunteers drawn from Bena, Ayu, and Dan-Umaru wards. Each volunteer is expected to receive ₦2,500 daily as data and allowance for eight days.
“This effort is aimed at ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised in the forthcoming 2027 elections. We want to encourage especially the new registrants to collect their PVCs so that our communities will have a smooth mobilisation exercise,” he said.

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently commenced online registration of eligible voters to review its registers and facilitate PVC collection nationwide.
