The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Oladapo Afeni, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who exhibit exemplary performance in the discharge of their duties.
Afeni gave the assurance during the Command’s gala and award night, which drew officers from the Benin Republic Customs Administration, sister security agencies, and traditional rulers from communities along the Idiroko border axis.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Area Controller said the ceremony was organised to honour officers who distinguished themselves through professionalism, diligence, and adherence to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to him, recognising outstanding performance is aimed at encouraging a culture of hard work and dedication within the Command.
“Today, we are here to honour those who have done well in their assigned duties, and it is a way of telling others that hard work is always recognised within the Command,”
He noted that the initiative would foster healthy competition among officers and serve as motivation for improved service delivery. Afeni also expressed confidence in the Command’s readiness to meet future operational demands.
“The necessary operational frameworks are already in place to position Ogun I Area Command as a formidable enforcement and revenue-generating zone in the coming year,”
At the ceremony, awards were presented to outstanding officers, as well as sister security agencies and partner organisations.
The Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN) also received a commendation award in recognition of its impactful support to the Command throughout 2025.
