Residents of Rano Local Government Area have been urged to continue supporting the Kano State Government’s efforts toward the development of the education sector.
The call was made by the Chairman of Rano Local Government Council, Malam Muhammad Naziru Ya’u Rano, during an award presentation ceremony for education officers and school staff under the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rano Zone.
Malam Muhammad Naziru Ya’u Rano highlighted several measures introduced by the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to improve education, including the allocation of a significant portion of the state’s annual budget to the education sector, recruitment of teachers, and the provision of teaching and learning materials to schools across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Zonal Information Officer, Rano Zone, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi, the council chairman said the local government would continue to complement the state government’s efforts by giving special attention to education in order to promote learning among both male and female youths in the area.
He further disclosed that plans had reached advanced stages for the distribution of school uniforms, textbooks, and other learning materials to students across the local government as part of efforts to improve educational standards.
The council chairman congratulated the award recipients and urged them to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, represented by the Board’s Director of Information, Alhaji Balarabe Danlami Jazuli, expressed satisfaction with the level of support being provided to education by the Emir of Rano, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammad Isah Umaru, and the Rano Local Government Chairman.
He called on other traditional rulers and local government chairmen in the state to emulate the Rano Emirate and Council in supporting education development.
Addressing the award recipients, the SUBEB Chairman advised them to see the recognition not as full compensation for their hard work but as encouragement to be more committed and dedicated to their responsibilities.
He added that under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, SUBEB would continue to introduce improved teaching and learning methods and enhance the welfare of primary school teachers across the state.
Also speaking, the representative of the Kano State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Ubale Bala, alongside the representative of the Local Government Education Secretaries Forum and Education Secretary of Garun Local Government, Malam Alhaji Sabo Muhammad, commended the transparent selection process adopted by the Rano Zonal Office in identifying award recipients and urged other zones to adopt a similar approach.
Earlier, the Director of the Rano Zonal Office of SUBEB, Alhaji Sunusi Uba Ahmad, explained that the awardees were selected based on merit, dedication, integrity, and positive contributions to their duties.
