Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the constitution of a Local Organising Committee (LOC) to coordinate the successful hosting of the 2026 Nigeria Rights of Workers’ Summit.
The approval was contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Alhaji Malami Shekare, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the summit is scheduled to hold on August 6, 2026, at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi.
The Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Malami Shekare, will chair the committee, while the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Kebbi State Ministry of Justice, Hajiya Aishatu Abbas, will serve as Secretary.
Other members include the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK; the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State Chapter; the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kebbi State; the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Kebbi State; the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Equity Branch, Birnin Kebbi; and the Special Adviser on Protocol.
The committee has been mandated to liaise with the main organising committee to ensure the successful hosting of the summit.
It is also expected to oversee the readiness of the Presidential Lodge as the venue, coordinate accommodation and transportation for special guests, mobilise workers and other relevant stakeholders for active participation, and collaborate with security agencies to guarantee a hitch-free event.
