The Kano State Police Command has intensified efforts to restore peace and security following recent rival youth clashes in areas such as Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango, and Zage.

Between December 10 and 12, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, personally assessed the situation and mobilized adequate personnel to address the unrest.
Kano Police Command Takes Proactive Measures to Ensure Safety
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ANIPR, MNISMA, the Police Public Relations Officer, the operation was conducted in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, emphasizing community-based policing. The Command collaborated with local security stakeholders, including Ward Heads, Vigilante Groups, Elders, and Business Owners, to carry out public sensitization campaigns through various media platforms.
From December 13 to 16, 2024, the clearance operations led to the arrest of 24 suspected thugs and the seizure of dangerous weapons. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion.
