    Misconduct: Jigawa Fires Three Officials, Warns Two Magistrates

    The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has terminated the appointments of three judicial officials, advised three judges to resign, and issued warnings to two magistrates for various acts of misconduct.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Abbas Rufa’I Wangara Director, Protocol & Publicity, Jigawa State Judiciary.

    Misconduct: Kano Judicial Commission Sanctions 3 Magistrates

    The statement said, the decisions were announced following the Commission’s 178th meeting held in Dutse on January 7, 2025.

    According to the statement “The Commission terminated the services of Iyal Ibrahim, a Higher Registrar on GL 08, and Baffa Alhaji, a Principal Registrar on GL 14, after they were found guilty of illegally selling two vehicle exhibits belonging to the Federal High Court, Dutse.

    The misconduct, categorized as gross violation under Rule 5 (4)&(6) of the Jigawa State Judiciary Scheme of Service (2006), led to their dismissal under Section 41 of the Judicial Service Commission Law, Cap. J20 Laws of Jigawa State (2012)”

    “Abdu Hassan Aujara, a Chief Clerical Officer, was dismissed for suppressing N965,000 deposited by a litigant in a recovery case involving Ja’iz Bank before the Chief Magistrate Court in Jahun.

    His actions were deemed a severe breach of trust and professional ethics, prompting the Commission to terminate his appointment under the same legal framework”

    The statement explained that the three Shari’a Court judges were implicated in cases of abuse of power and negligence were however advised to resign from service.

    “Alkali Adamu Isyaku Farin-Dutse was found guilty of judicial overreach and misapplication of the law.

    Despite repeated warnings, his actions violated the Judiciary Scheme of Service provisions. The Commission advised him to tender his resignation within two weeks”

    “Alkali Muhammad Shehu Usman faced allegations of issuing a writ of possession before delivering a judgment, a clear breach of due process. He was also given two weeks to resign”

    “Alkali Usman Usman Zubair was implicated in improperly adjudicating inheritance cases, allowing unauthorized individuals to benefit. He was similarly advised to resign within two weeks”

    Jigawa State Government Warns Retirees of Fraudsters

    The Judicial Service, however, warned two magistrates, Munir Sarki Abdullahi of Gumel, for converting a civil matter into a criminal case and showing partisanship during proceedings, while Yakubu Ibrahim of Maigatari was cautioned for verbally abusing a litigant during a court session.

    The Judicial Service Commission emphasized its commitment to maintaining integrity, fairness, and professionalism within the judiciary.

    It assured the public that it would continue to take necessary steps to uphold ethical standards and protect the sanctity of the judiciary.
