Governor Nasir Idris has approved the sum of N100 million to support women-focused development initiatives across Kebbi State.
The announcement was made at Haliru Abdu Stadium during a large gathering of women groups under the Mugudu Tare, Mu Tsira Tare Foundation, an initiative championed by the First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris.
The event, which drew thousands of women from all 21 Local Government Areas of the state, marked the official launch of a programme targeting no fewer than 100,000 women.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Idris commended the organisers and participants, describing women as vital partners in the political and socio-economic development of the state. He noted that since assuming office, women have shown commitment and resilience, contributing meaningfully to the achievements of his administration.
The governor reiterated that his administration is people-oriented and remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote self-reliance and community development. He added that when groups organise themselves to advance collective welfare, it becomes the responsibility of government to complement such efforts.
In recognition of the contributions of the women groups and their supporters, Governor Idris announced the N100 million donation, assuring that the state government would continue to back programmes that empower women and strengthen communities.
He also urged leaders and stakeholders to uphold integrity, fairness, and accountability, stressing the importance of fulfilling promises made to the people.
In her remarks, the First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, expressed appreciation to women across the state for their continued support. She reaffirmed her commitment to improving the welfare of women, youths, and vulnerable groups through targeted initiatives.
She noted that programmes under her office are designed to uplift communities and promote social cohesion, while also praying for sustained peace, unity, and development in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the women groups, Hajiya Salma Farisa commended Governor Idris for his consistent support for women, describing him as a compassionate leader whose policies have positively impacted lives across Kebbi State. She also pledged the group’s continued support for government programmes.
