Kano State House of Assembly has urged the Kano state government (KNSG) to assist the families of the deceased and victims of the mosque explosion in Gada Gezawa local government area.
This was a sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during a plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
In a motion of urgent public importance moved by a member representing the Gezawa constituency Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya supported by the lawmakers.
He explained that 17 people lost their lives while those alive are in critical condition and currently receiving medical attention at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano.
The lawmaker argued that families of the deceased and victims need all the necessary support from the federal and state governments.
Abdullahi described the tragedy as unfortunate urging security agencies and relevant authorities to prosecute the perpetrator.
Others who supported the motion include members representing Kiru Madobi Usman and Sulaiman Mukhtar.
Earlier the speaker KNHA Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore commiserated with the government, families and the entire people of the state over the unfortunate incident he prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and speedy recovery of those injured.
In another development, the Kano State House of Assembly funds management amendment bill scaled second reading.
The majority leader who doubles as a member Dala Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala pointed out that the law seeks to ensure financial autonomy to the Kano House of Assembly on issues about salaries, allowances, and recruitment of staff, promotion among others
Supporting the bill, the deputy speaker Alhaji Muhammad Bello Butu Butu stressed that, after scrutiny it was observed there are variations between the Kano House of Assembly KNHA funds management bill and that of the National Assembly, hence the need for amendment
The house adjourned its sitting to the next day in a motion moved by the majority leader Lawan Hussaini Dala.
