Five resident doctors from the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, have secured a scholarship worth $125,000 from the Global University of Medical Sciences, Jamaica, to pursue postgraduate studies in Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology.
The scholarship will enable each of the five doctors to receive $25,000 for a Master’s degree and Fellowship training in the specialized field.

The scholarship was facilitated by Christopher Ogunsalu, President of the International Postgraduate Medical College.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Chief Medical Director of ABUTH, Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas, commended the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by pursuing academic excellence and advancing their professional careers.
Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Ahmed Adamu, and the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Sunday Olusegun Ajika, expressed appreciation to Prof. Ogunsalu for facilitating the scholarship, describing it as a major boost to specialist medical education.
The Vice-Chancellor officially presented the admission letters to the beneficiaries during a brief but colourful ceremony held at ABUTH, Shika-Zaria.
The Global University of Medical Sciences, a subsidiary of the International Postgraduate Medical College, specializes in advanced dental education, offering postgraduate programmes in Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Implantology and Oral Medicine.
Among the dignitaries at the event was the Provost of the ABU College of Medical Sciences, Dahiru Ismail, alongside other senior academics and health professionals.
