Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe has suspended his community intervention projects in Gombe State over what he described as political victimisation involving Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and some of his associates.

The affected initiatives include the ongoing Emir’s Championship Cup, which has reached the semi-final stage, and activities planned to commemorate the centenary of Hassan Central Primary School in Gombe.
Gara Gombe announced the suspension in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Azubuike Nathaniel, explaining that the decision would remain in force until further notice.
He attributed the development to what he described as a conspiracy and coordinated campaign of political victimisation aimed at frustrating his activities.
According to the statement, the projects, implemented under the Green with Green (GWG) and Gombe Grassroot Movement (GGM), were established and solely funded by Gara Gombe to promote youth development, discover talents and encourage peaceful coexistence.

It noted that the initiatives had provided opportunities for young people to develop their talents while strengthening community relationships and promoting unity across the state.
The statement alleged that some associates of Governor Yahaya, as well as the governor himself, were involved in actions intended to frustrate the projects.
Gara Gombe also alleged that some magistrates and police personnel were being used to intimidate and harass him.
The statement linked the alleged political tension to his declaration of support for Professor Isa Ali Pantami and his earlier endorsement of the Gombe State Accountant-General, Aminu Yuguda, as his preferred candidate for governor.
It further disclosed that he had petitioned relevant authorities, including the courts, the Office of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission, seeking intervention and appropriate action.

Gara Gombe said the suspension was necessary to enable him to address the issues and pursue legal remedies to protect his fundamental rights.
The suspension has halted preparations for the centenary celebration of Hassan Central Primary School and disrupted the Emir’s Championship Cup, which is already at the semi-final stage.
